Asanko Gold Ghana Limited Ghana Ltd. (“AGGL”) is a fully-owned subsidiary of Asanko Gold Inc., a company which has built the Asanko Gold Mine, Ghana’s newest gold mine. The vision of Asanko is to become a midtier gold mining company that maximizes value for all stakeholders.
AGGL is seeking to employ a suitably qualified person to fill the role below. This is a Fixed term position with a competitive work roster. Remuneration package includes attractive salary. Position: Cost Controller (Fixed Term)
Purpose:
The incumbent will undertake various functions related to cost management for the entire mine and work collaboratively with heads of departments to analyze costs, assess vendor relationships, and maximize profitability. He/She must demonstrate an aptitude for efficiency, problem solving, and resourcefulness, with a deep commitment to the bottom line without compromising on quality.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist the Management Accountant, using accounting models to estimate and monitor cost of production and services;
• Design and maintain various reports developed on the mine;
• Prepare and distribute daily cost reports for management decisions making and planning;
• Work in conjunction with all department heads to ensure cost optimization;
• Provide critical assessment of all budgets and cost projections;
• Collaborate with department heads to strategize ways to eliminate waste;
• Develop and implement proactive solutions and cost-cutting measures;
• Commit to maximizing efficiency at all levels without compromising on quality;
• Roll out clear cost-saving programs with timelines and assessment goals;
• Be abreast of best cost matrices and trends in the mining industry in Ghana and advice management of same;
• Perform any other finance functions and related jobs assigned from time to time by supervisor.
Qualification Required & Experience
• Bsc/Bcom Accounting/Finance or relevant qualification from a recognized tertiary institution;
• Qualified member of an Accountancy body (ACCA, ICA GH, CIMA);
• Minimum of five (5) years’ post qualification work experience in cost control in the Mining or related industry;
• Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of interdependency of cost drivers;
• Demonstrate excellent understanding of the entire arc of the business and how productivity impacts profitability;
• Ability to generate budgets and accurate reports;
• Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, database management;
• Strong working knowledge in any well recognized Accounting Software;
• Creative thinking skills and ability to solve problems;
• Must be Honest, ethical and have strong integrity;
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
