A reputable company is looking to recruit a highly qualified and versatile candidate to man its tilapia farm as a Farm Manager.

Profile

The ideal candidate must have the following skills;

• Deep knowledge and understanding of aquaculture
• possess stock skills such as fish handling, spawning, grading and harvesting
• good people and resource management skills
• business and social skills
• numerical ability, for calculating feeding regimes and for invoicing purposes
• an aptitude for practical work and problem solving

Job Description;

• brood stock management
• management of hatchery and ensuring optimum tilapia fry production
• keeping mortality at its barest minimum
• keeping and maintaining proper records on the farm
• acquiring new Off takers and maintaining existing ones
• monitor the health of the fish and treat them when appropriate
• plan breeding programs and grow schedules to obtain maximum output
• adhere to environmental standards
• be abreast with regulations and legislation's pertaining to the aquaculture industry
• ensure the water supply is of a sufficient quality for the hatchery.
• adapt to new technologies to improve fish production
• managing staff and resources
• ensure efficient standard operating procedures.

Qualification Required & Experience

• A degree, HND or diploma from a recognized institution in any of the following is useful:
• agriculture with specialty in aquaculture
• agribusiness

Work experience

• 2 – 4 years of experience in this field is highly desired
