AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited, Obuasi Gold Mine is currently near completion of the redevelopment phase to become a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation has been fully mechanized and designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t/day of ore mined.
We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as Maintenance Planner-Process Plant.
ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT
• To be accountable for planning and ensuring that all fixed plants are maintained according to the original equipment manufacturer standards so that it can be handed over in a timely manner, ‘fit for purpose’ to the Mining operations team for safe and efficient use. The role holder will also ensure that, planning function’s immediate goal is to reduce costs, improve reliability and sustain operational improvement initiatives via the implementation and execution of the AGA Asset Management Plan.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Ensure safe planning of process plant engineering activities and compliance with classified plant and electrical safety obligations to meet safety targets.
• Demonstrate safety behaviour consistent with AGAG’s vision and values.
• Support and make room for continuous improvement of safety performance.
• Support the Senior Maintenance Planner to plan for all fixed plants.
• Prepare and submit updated work program on weekly basis showing actual progress and identify areas of weakness.
• Maintain and record update of site work progress obtained from Senior Maintenance Planner Process plant.
• Ensure spares inventory supports current and future planning requirements.
• Ensure asset purchases are effectively and efficiently done in through structured system that is consistent with AGA policies.
• Provide input to due diligence for procuring goods and services to support maintenance plan.
• Adhere to procurement procedures and processes.
• Ensure cost codes are correctly allocated to all engineering activities.
• Responsible for Maintenance Planning team in terms of work management, capability, and capacity building to support operational activities.
• Complete the skills matrix and maintain up to date.
• Identify skill deficiencies and initiate corrective action.
• Attend key planning meetings on a weekly basis and as required.
• Participate in engineering meetings with the Client as required.
• Maintain meeting records, agreed actions, and follow up to ensure actions are completed.
• Provide regular feedback to the Planning Superintendent and Engineering Manager in relation to work progress, and issues impacting on compliance and production.
• Participate in Underground infrastructure cost and schedule reviews to support accurate and timely reporting.
• Participate incident investigations and provide feedback regarding the agreed corrective actions.
• Produce Daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports accurately and timely.
• Advise maintenance works progress and KPI status to the Senior Maintenance Planner, particularly potential cost, schedule, or quality variances.
• Identify and address engineering risks, by communicating potential issues to stakeholders in a timely manner.
• Inspect maintenance works to validate progress and status.
• Participate in formal monthly risk reviews.
Qualification Required & Experience
• A tertiary qualifications in a relevant (mechanical or electrical) engineering discipline.
Experience
• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as maintenance planner or assistant maintenance planner in mining operations
Technical Competencies
• Demonstrated experience knowledge base in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems, knowledge of SAP PM Maturity Journey is advantageous.
• Good understanding of applying wrench time to capacity planning and scheduling principles and a working knowledge of MS Project.
• Demonstrate ability to inspect and confirm repair specifications for rotable spares.
• Process Plant operations and maintenance practices.
