AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited, Obuasi Gold Mine is currently near completion of the redevelopment phase to become a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation has been fully mechanized and designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t/day of ore mined.

ROLE PURPOSE
• Control Room Superintendent will actively promote safety culture and hazard awareness and ensure relevant Mining and other statutory Codes and Regulations are in full force at the workplace.
• He will be responsible for performing skilled technical work in the installation, maintenance, repair, modification, and testing of access control, and security systems hardware and software.
• He will take appropriate actions in case of irregularities or emergencies. Ensure the efficient working of the control room by ensuring that all work is undertaken in compliance with the operating procedures, current legislation, and the codes of practice.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Assess risks for all tasks and ensure they are controlled before and during task execution.
• Report all incidents and ensure they have been investigated and corrective actions completed on time.
• Act on all corrective actions assigned to him/her or under his/her jurisdiction and ensure timely completion.
• Accountable for the implementation, communication, and enforcement of all environmental legal compliance for the department.
• Identify the environmental aspects of all activities/areas of oversight responsibilities and provide appropriate mitigation measures.
• Investigate, respond, and take measures to prevent actual/ potential environmental incidents in the areas of responsibility.
• Responsible for continuous environmental improvement in the areas of work.
• Demonstrate Environmental Leadership by supporting team members and other managers to achieve their environmental objective and requirements.
• Contribute to the environmental training of all subordinates within the department/section.
• Establish the necessary Control Room processes and practices for the redevelopment of the Obuasi Mine
• Develop the annual cost centre budget to achieve the required targets for achieving annual, medium term and LoM business plans
• Deliver the work of the function within approved budget targets and specified timeframes, costs and related KPIs.
• Provide the resources and expertise to develop the team to capably and consistently deliver the annual budget, according to their role and level of authority.
• Rigorously drive implementation of projects and nurture and sustain a culture of Accountability and Continuous Improvement within the team.
• Develop and maintain constructive relationships with Internal Stakeholders (Corporate, Group Planning & Technical, sister mines, etc.) and external Stakeholders (Regulatory Agencies and Authorities, Minerals Commission) to establish existing and changing societal and regulatory expectations and requirements.
Qualification Required & Experience
• BSc / Diploma in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
• Mine Captain's Certificate of Competency or equivalent
Experience
• A minimum of Five (5) to eight (8) years' operational experience within an underground mining environment of which at least three (3) years is at supervisory level; fleet management system and SCADA application environment.
• Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of fundamental mining method.
• Underground experience in systems management and applications.
Technical Competencies
• Proficient in the use of Mining Software; Interfacing of mining and geological software’s and database for mining operations underground
• Excellent Communication Skills and excellent Knowledge in computer networking and data management systems

• Contract Management - Basic Application
• Project Management - Basic Application
Legal Competencies
• Mine Captain’s Certificate of Competency or equivalent, as required by the Minerals Commission (Chief Inspector of Mines)
