Introduction
Star Ghana Foundation is looking for a consultant to research into the Role of women in the Bawku Conflict. This is to better understand the dynamics of women’s involvement in the conflict, as input to the development of programming responses by state and non-state actors.
The purpose of this assignment is to deepen stakeholders’ understanding of the role played by women in the conflict. It will analyse the gender dynamics, including roles and influence of women and men, boys and girls in the conflict and impacts of the conflict on same to provide a more nuanced understanding of the phenomenon. The assignment will also seek to make actionable recommendations to inform further action by key stakeholders, particularly in turning women in Bawku into peace builders.
Qualification Required & Experience
Requirements
The preferred consultant will meet the following specifications:
• Hold at least a master’s degree in a relevant field with a strong background in research
• Possess a good understanding of the nexus between gender and violent conflicts
• Demonstrable understanding of the context of the assignment and the history of the Bawku conflict
• Demonstrable record of past experience in similar assignments
• Strong ability to identify and engage key personalities and/or institutions as may be necessary for the successful execution of the assignment
• Excellent written and communication skills
Timelines/Duration of Engagement
• The assignment will be completed over the January 2023. The consultant will be expected to use a total of 15 days within this period to complete the assignment
