Consultancy – Undertake an Analysis of the Role of the Youth in the Bawku conflict



Introduction

STAR-Ghana Foundation is seeking the services of a consultant to undertake an analysis of the role of the youth in the Bawku conflict. This is to better understand the dynamics of youth role and involvement in the conflict, as input to the development of programming responses by state and non-state actors.

The purpose of this assignment is to deepen stakeholders’ understanding of the role played by young people in the conflict. It will analyse the context of the conflict, and this informs and affects the involvement of various social groups, particularly the youth, in the conflict. The assignment will also seek to make actionable recommendations to inform further action by key stakeholders, particularly in turning the youth involved in the conflict into peace builders and ambassadors.

Qualification Required & Experience

Requirements

The preferred consultant will meet the following specifications:

• Hold at least a master’s degree in a relevant field with a strong background in research
• Possess a good understanding of the nexus between gender and violent conflicts
• Demonstrable understanding of the context of the assignment and the history of the Bawku conflict
• Demonstrable record of past experience in similar assignments
• Strong ability to identify and engage key personalities and/or institutions as may be necessary for the successful execution of the assignment
• Excellent written and communication skills

Timelines/Duration of Engagement

• The assignment will be completed over the January 2023. The consultant will be expected to use a total of 15 days within this period to complete the assignment
