Ghana Federation of the Disabled (GFD) is a national umbrella of organization of persons with disabilities which was established in 1987 with the aim of promoting disability rights in Ghana.

GFD seeks to engage the a Fundraiser on contract for a 12 month period with the possibility of extension to two years subject to successful performance. The successful applicant will be based in Accra Office of the GFD and will report to the Executive Director.

Role Description:

The duties and responsibilities of the Fundraiser will include but not limited to the following:

1. Build on the database of existing and potential donors both internationally and in Ghana and support GFD and the member organizations to use it
2. Undertake networking with potential donors in the voluntary and the corporate sectors in Ghana with a view to developing new funding sources, both restricted and unrestricted
3. Lead the implementation of the new fundraising strategy, making recommendations for any amendments required as may become apparent through its practical application
4. Support collaborative working on fundraising between GFD and the member of organizations and amongst the member organizations themselves
5. Develop fundraising resources/materials such as the website leaflet and other relevant materials about GFD for potential donors and general appeals for support to assist in raising awareness of the organization and in the solicitation of funds

Eligibility Requirements for Applicants:

Professional

. Education to first degree level or equivalent. A specific subject area is not specified. Skills and experience will be more important than specific formal qualifications
. Training/facilitation skills to develop fundraising approach within GFD membership
. Excellent relationship building skills that are transferable across a range of potential donors
. Three or more years experience as a fundraiser working in multiple fundraising disciplines
. An understanding of/interest in issues around disability as a development and human rights issue
. Excellent written communication skills, especially in developing proposals and promotional materials
. Ability to work independently to liaise and coordinate activities between up to 8 different organizations
. Good team building and team working skills
. A background of working in the charity or NGO sector would be ideal, but not essential

Personal Requirements

. Interpersonal skills and confidence to relate to people at all levels (from Directors of large companies and Officials at national level to representatives of community based groups)
. Ability to work independently to liaise and coordinate activities between up to 8 different organizations
. Good team building and team working skills
