Graduate Enlistment Into The Ghana Police Service 2016
The Ghana Police Service has opened recruitment of graduates in specified areas for qualified persons who are interested in Law Enforcement as a career:
General Eligibility / Requirement
All applicants must satisfy the following requirements:
• Must be a Ghanaian citizen
• Must possess a minimum of a First Degree not below 2nd Class Lower from an accredited university and the relevant professional qualification where it has been specified
• Must not be more than 32 years by 1st September, 2016
• Must be at least 5feet 8inches (173CM) tall for males and 5feet 4inches (163CM) for females
• Must be physically fit by Police Standards
• Must be of good character without any criminal record
• Must have completed National Service.
General Duties
In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a minimum of a First Degree (Second Class Lower) in any of the following areas. Any additional qualification will be an advantage
• Mathematics / Statistics
• Physics
• Biochemistry
• Forensics
• Chemistry
• Biology
• Information and communication Technology (ICT)
• Computer Science
• Computer Engineering
• Social Sciences / Humanities

Projects Unit
In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a minimum of First Degree (Second Class Lower) in the areas listed.
• Electrical Engineering
• Civil Engineering
• Architecture
• BSc (Hons) Building Technology (Management Option) with at least 2 years of post qualification experience
• Previous working experience will be an advantage
Transport and Workshop
In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a minimum of First Degree (Second Class Lower) in the area listed.
• Mechanical Engineering
• Previous working experience will be an advantage
Legal Officers
In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have:
• At least a second class lower first degree in communication studies or Public relations from an accredited university
OR
• A Diploma in Communication Studies or Public relaltions from an accredited institution, plus a First Degree in social sciences from an accredited university
• Any additional qualification will be an advantage
Finance
• In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a minimum of First Degree in Accounting or Finance. A Second Degree in Accounting or Finance or Professional Qualification will be an added advantage
• Any additional qualification will be an advantage
Communications
In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have:
• BSc Telecommunication Engineering. Experience in Radio Communication will be an advantage
Religious Affairs
In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have the following:
• Applicants for Chaplains must be an Ordained Minister of a Christian denomination approved by the Ghana Catholic Secretariat, the Christian council of Ghana, the Pentecostal Council of Ghana or other recognised Christian body
• Applicants for Imams must be First Degree in Islamic Studies from any accredited university
Audit
In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a First Degree in Accounting. A Second Degree in Accounting or Professional Qualification will be an added advantage
Police Medical Services Specialist (Medical)
In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have MB, chB/BDS or its equivalent plus a relevant postgraduate qualification to the level of Membership/Fellowship of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons (GCPS/WACPS/WACP) or its equivalent from a recognised College. Applicants must not be more than 35 years

Biomedical Scientist (Histotechnologist)
In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have
• BSc (Medical Laboratory Technology)

• Experience in the tissue grossing tissue processing, tissue microtomy, slide preparation and staining
• Experience in immure instochemistry will be an added advantage
• Experience in special stain
Critical Care and Threatre Nurses
In addition to the general eligibility
• All applicants must have the relevant nursing qualification from an accredited Nursing School or University.
• In addition, applicants must have a current license with the Nursing and Midwives council of Ghana
• Must be certified critical Care Nurse or/and Peri-Operative Nurse. In addition, must have at least 3 years of experience in the field
Estate Officers
In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have
• BSc Land Economy
• BSc Geometric/Geodetic Engineering Land Surveyor
• Previous working experience will be an advantage
Mode of Application
Applicants should:
• Submit a written application and attached copies of all the relevant academic documents, birth certificate, CV and evidence of completion of National Service
• Application letters should be submitted together with One Hundred Ghana Cedis (GHs 100) banker's draft drawn in the name of "Special Police Service Account" with the GCB Bank, and also a photocopy of the bankers draft
• Applicants must give their full official name at the point of purchase of the banker's draft
• Application letters are to be handed over personally at the National Police Headquarters Accra and also at the Police Regional Headquarters in Kumasi and Tamale
• All applicants must give a functional email address and telephone number.
• All envelopes with application must be marked "Police Enlistment"
Stages of the Enlistment Process
• Shortlisted applicants will be notified through their email addresses to attend the next stage
• This will be followed by Body Selection, Screening and Examination of relevant academic and personal documents
• Successful candidates in (b) above will write an aptitude test
• Candidates who pass the aptitude test will go through a thorough criminal background check and vetting of certificates
• Candidates who successfully pass (d) will be invited to attend an interview
• Successful candidates at the interview will go through Medical Examination at the Police Hospital
• The final stage of the process is invitiation to commence 3 months basic Under-Cadet Training to be followed 6 months practical attachment at a Police Station or Unit for all under Cadets except the Medical Staff
• Candidates who successfully complete the Under-Cadet Training and practical attachment will then gain direct entry into the Police college for cadet officers training and commission as Senior Police Officers
Things to Note
• All applicants must submit written application
• The Police has not contracted any middlemen to recruit on its behalf
• Do not submit more than one application
• All academic certificates will be vetted at WAEC and any applicant who is found to have presented forged documents will be prosecuted
• No affidavits in relation to change of date of birth will be accepted
• Only shortlisted applicants will be invited for further processes
• All applicants will be positively vetted
