IT Jobs in Ghana - Abt Associates is a major American business and government research, technical assistance, and consulting company, manages the USAID-funded Africa IRS (“Indoor Residual Spraying”) Project, which seeks to reduce the burden of malaria in 14 African countries through cost-effective commodities procurement and logistics systems, access to technical expertise, and implementation of Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS).
Description Of Job
Abt Associates is seeking a Database Manager for the Africa IRS Project. Under the supervision of the Monitoring and Evaluation Manager, the Database Manager supports the implementation of the M&E system of the IRS2 TO4 Ghana Project.
Specific duties and responsibilities include the following:
• Provides oversight and maintenance of project Access database
• Creates Access reports for local reporting on project indicators
• Participates in the collection, analysis, and reporting of baseline M&E data and ongoing M&E data collection, analysis and reporting according to the project M&E plan.
• Assists in the regular monitoring of project implementation against established targets and objectives.
• Supports periodic internal Data Quality Assessments and prepares the project for possible external Data Quality Audits to ensure validity, integrity, precision, reliability and timeliness of all performance data, identifying gaps and suggesting corrective actions on time.
• Collects, analyzes, and presents program data for project staff, partners, counterparts, and donors.
• Contributes to the project’s work in HMIS, and in linking country-level HMIS to project monitoring and evaluation, as appropriate.
• Supports the preparation of performance monitoring plans, including developing and defining program indicators and sources of data, as well as annual reports and other project documents.
• Provides M&E support to research activities and routine monitoring and surveillance studies
Qualification Required & Experience
• Secondary School (minimum), or a Bachelors Degree (desirable) in Statistics, IT, Community Health, Sociology, or other relevant field.
• 3 years of relevant experience in database management, monitoring & evaluation, or other relevant social science activities.
• Familiarity with quantitative and qualitative research methods.
• Computer literacy, knowledge of analysis software (Excel, SPSS, EPiInfo, Arc GIS, etc).
• Skills in Access database development and queries are required.
• Knowledge of health project implementation in general, with knowledge about malaria prevention programs very desirable.
• Knowledge of material logistics systems is desirable.
• English language competency.
