We are seeking Accountant candidates to support Agribusiness Systems International's (ASI) operations in Ghana. ASI is a supporting institution of ACDI/VOCA that manages its own finances, portfolio of programs and operations. While ASI works closely with ACDI/VOCA both technically and logistically, we are an independent company with a small staff size that must be multi-function and adaptive.
The Accountant in Ghana is a vital role within ASI that has overall responsibility for all of ASI's project finances in the country. As a valued member of the ASI team, the Accountant will be responsible for the implementation of accounting tasks, policies and procedures for the ASI's portfolio in Ghana, include but not limited to the responsibilities outlined below.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The employee will be responsible for the following task:
• Oversee financial transactions and activities including the accounting of funds, disbursements and expenditures
• Prepare accounting voucherss (payment and journal) and ensure that all supporting documentation (invoices and receipts) are attached
• Record journal entries in the Quickbooks accounting system and ensure that all financial transactions are properly coded
• Ensuring the safeguards of all project funds
• Prepare payroll payments for local employees, including calculating, withholding and recording all applicable income taxes and other social payments based on Ghanaian tax rules
• Monitor financial compliance
Qualification Required & Experience
• A degree in accounting
• Mastery of Quickbooks
• Minimum seven(7) years of experience in financial management or equivalent
• Experience and knowledge of NGO Accounting principles and procedures
• Advanced working knowledge in excel, with proficiency in work, quick books
• Sufficient knowledge of accounting standards and government of Ghana tax laws and regulations
• Good administrative and organisational skills, record keeping and filing systems as well as good problem solver.
• Good problem solver, self-starter, creative and innovative, good communication, leadership and reporting skills
• A strong command of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Quickbooks and other relevant computer applications
• Fluency in English required
