Role Purpose
Reporting to the Consumer & Market Understanding Manager, the holder will lead the generation of insights through BIG data analytics across products and processes, and all competitor understanding efforts of MICGH to ensure optimal use of in-house data for Marketing purposes and the competitiveness of MICGH’s offerings and executions. This position requires a keen analytical and strategic mind that is able to absorb large amounts and varied sources of data, while having the capability to see beyond the data to provide intellectual insights on the market and consumer dynamics
Key Responsibilities
Big Data Analytics
• Work with Data Warehouse to analyze subscriber level data as first line inputs for all Consumer & Market Understanding initiatives
• Robust data mining that assists with insights on key business trends (activations, churns, usage growths/declines, market share trends, etc)
• hampion the development of big data analytics skills and usage within the CMU unit
Customer Profiling
• Harmonizing big data tools, market research data and official statistics to profile the Tigo customer, users of key products and tariff plans
• Continuously profile new customers (Gross Adds), inactive customers and churns
• Assist the Geo-Marketing lead to construct the profiles of customers in various relevant local units of our market
Competitor Intelligence
• Lead all competitor understanding and benchmarking needs of MICGH
• Review and benchmarking of both existing and new offerings in the market (products and services, tariffs, promotions, processes, etc)
• Business performance benchmarking (customer market shares, revenue market shares, ARPUs, MOUs, penetration of key products, etc)
• Daily, weekly and monthly reports on key market developments and competitor activities
• Proactively scan the business environment to identify areas of competitive opportunity and risk
• Maintain an updated SWOT analysis of all competitors in our market at all times
• Deliver specific ad-hoc requests on competitor understanding from various stakeholders
• Manage our media monitoring programs to ensure efficiency of media investments
Execution Excellence
• Work with various product owners and business units in the design and execution of various innovation/renovation initiatives;
Qualification Required & Experience
Position Requirements
• University degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Marketing, Operations Research or Computer Science with adequate Business Courses;
• Master’s Degree in Business is a plus
• 4+ years relevant post National Service working experience in Telecoms/FMCG/Consulting
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in data analysis, marketing surveys, research oriented
• In-depth experience in Business Analysis & Planning
• Experience with data access, manipulation, and report generation tools (SQL, SPSS, Excel, Access, etc) a MUST
• Demonstrable experience using market research data (brand, customer or retail)
• Demonstrable experience conducting root cause analysis based on data analytics
• Strong competitive analytical skills
• Extensive knowledge of best practices for competitive intelligence and market research
• Creativity with regards to identifying and utilizing various sources to gather data
• Ability to analyze complex competitor activities in order to derive conclusions and recommendations
• Solid understanding of marketing analytics and the concepts of segmentation and targeting
• Understands the Ghanaian telecom market (operators, offerings, tariffs, positioning, etc)
• Knowledge of consumer behavior and psychology
