Our client, a leading agro-processing company, is looking for a qualified candidate to occupy the position of: Chief Engineer

Job Purpose

• The Chief Engineer (who will be reporting to the General Manager) will be responsible for the technical planning and supervision of operations, maintenance and repairs of all production equipment and vehicles of the company, development of engineering solutions for the company's engineering related challenges. The Chief Engineer's presence is expected in the office, on the factory floor and on location outdoors.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the main point of contact for communication on engineering and transport issue between the organization and the department
• Effectively manage the engineering & transport departments to achieve organizational objectives
• Plan and manage the maintenance and repair of all site machinery and vehicles
• Monitor and produce quarterly performance reports for submission to the GM
• Evaluate and maintain all occupational health and safety programmes for your departments
• Maintain records of engineering activities for the company for audit purposes
• Plan, write and schedule with the GM on the implementation of audit on key operational practices for your department. Report on audit results
• Manage and report on the economical use of fuel by the generators. Eliminate wastage and inappropriate use of fuel
• Maintain and manage machinery to a budget agreed with the CM. Produce a monthly report on this communicate information about machinery that may adversely affect the production of finished products as soon as possible to GM
• Analyse engineering and transport costs. Identify, implement and report to GM on cost reductions.
• Meet deadlines and be avaliable after normal business hours when required
• Operate your departments with minimum effect and reducing the impact on the environment. Ensure ethical practices in your departments. Understand and implement the objectives of the sustainability committee
• Undertake any other duties assigned by the GM

Qualification Required & Experience

• First Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering
• Fair knowledge in Mechanical Engineering
• Hands-on experience in refrigeration
• A master's degree in a relevant engineering field would be an added advantage
• Not less than 4 years work experience in the food and beverage indusutry
• Good oral and written english
• Strong knowledge of MS Office, including word, excel and PowerPoint
