A leading investment banking institution within the financial industry in Kumasi is looking for a suitably-qualified, goal-oriented and result-driven person for appointment to the position of: Chief Executive Officer

Requirements of the Position

• The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) reports to the Board of Directors and will be responsible for the overall and operational performance of the company and its affiliates and the achievement for the company's growth and profitability agenda. The CEO's overall responsibility extends to the effective management of the company in fulfillment of the declared objectives and within the framework of the policies laid down by the Board of Directors.

Strategic Responsibilities

• Provision of strategic leadership as approved by the board of directors of the company
• Overall financial management of the company
• Audit, risk management and compliance to regulatory requirements
• Strategic planning, leadership and direction of the company
• Creation and execution of strategies to ensure achievement of company's goals
• Corporate and social responsibility agenda of the company

Job Description

Alongside other functions that may be assigned by the board of Directors from time to time, the Chief Executive Officer will be required to perform the following functions

• Grow the company's customer portfolio and increase profits through effective deposit mobilisation
• Develop and implement policies to ensure that performance targets are achieved
• Develop and implement training and succession plan programmes for staff to enhance operational efficiency
• Ensure adherence to good governance, investment regulations and industry standards
• Ensure that investments activities are carried out in a safe and secured atmosphere
• Preparation and submission of financial reports to the Board of Directors and attending Board meetings
• Represent the company's interest in accordance with policy guidelines in its dealings with stakeholders
• Ensuring optimum utilization of all human resources of the company to eliminate shortages and surpluses
• Keeping the financial position of the company under critical scrutiny to eliminate fraudulent activities by putting in place strong internal control measures
• Provision of effective communication link between management and the board of directors
• Ensuring that all matters that affect health, safety, welfare and conflict are dealt with to the satisfaction of all interested parties.

Key Competencies

• Financial reporting capabilities - a good understanding and knowledge of budget preparation and cash flow management
• Possession of good understanding and working knowledge of international financial reporting standards
• A good knowledge of the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) systems of operation and other regulatory institutions in the financial sector
• Strong leadership ad management skills
• Understanding of business, government and industry processes.

Qualification Required & Experience

• A good first degree in Finance/Banking/Accounting from a recognised institution
• A postgraduate qualification such as in above will be an advantage
• Membership of a relevant professional body in Finance, Banking or Acconting is desirable
• Participation in short courses from regulatory institutions, including GSE Securities courses will be an added advantage

Experience

• Not less than 15 years practical working experience in the financial sector, 5 years of which should have been in top management position with strong demonstrable achievements
• Strong financial management trackground/experience
• Strong credit risk management and corporate financing background
• Strong leadership and management skills
