Job Vacancy For Communities and School Management Specialist At CARE International
CARE seeks a Community and School Management Specialist (CSMS) for an upcoming, four (4) year program in Ghana. This project has a heavy focus on providing technical expertise to the Ghana Education Service in early grade literacy and numeracy for primary school students. The project aims to improve reading skills in 2 million primary students by 2016.
Summary
The Communities and Schools Management Specialist (CSMS) will provide leadership, direction, and coordination to improve accountability and transparency between parents, schools, local government. The CSMS will lead the coordination activities that support the role of governments and communities to ensure that the link between public spending on education and service delivery is understood by citizens in order to improve accountability in the use of public funds and the achievement of sector goals. In addition, the CSMS will lead the development of a social advocacy strategy to promote the sustainability of educational interventions and strengthen and expand the capacity of school community institutions (school management committees and parent teacher associations) and/or NGOs to effectively identify, analyze, develop alternative solutions to, and advocate for priority issues identified within their respective areas.
Qualification Required & Experience
• Minimum of 10 years experience working in the education sector within the context of developing countries.
• 10 years of project management experience at improving school management, community engagement in schools, and parent engagement.
• Experience in mobilizing parents and communities for school improvement, m inimum of 5 years experience coordinating closely with national and sub-national institutions and partners.
• Record of effective training and technical assistance design, materials development and delivery.
• Strong understanding of the Ghana Education Services and institutional context; especially as it relates to education management and service delivery a plus.
• Excellent interpersonal and team work skills.
• Superior written and oral skills in English are essential.
