URC is recruiting staff for positions on the Operations team for the USAID-funded Ghana Systems for Health Project.

Job Title: CONSTRUCTION MANAGER

Job Summary: The Construction Manager, under the supervision of the Construction Engineer, will manage the construction of a large-scale Ghana S4H project. Key responsibilities include:

•   Carry out renovation needs assessments and draft detailed un-priced BOQs for RFQs
•   Review RFQs for completeness and compliance prior to issuance to contractors
•   Assess the cost reasonableness of bills of quantities and technical appropriateness of designs submitted to potential contract awardees
•   Participate in all the pre-award processes including Bid Opening, Bid evaluations, negotiations etc.
•   Design appropriate contract documents, and negotiate with the various potential contract sub-awardee entities, and finally oversee the contracts signing process.
•   Supervise and monitor the renovation works, ensuring optimum standards for the works at all times.
•   Issue certificates of works and or sections completed at various stages, in accordance with details in each contract, including making recommendations for payments to contractor(s) as per individual contract terms.
•   Regularly update management on the progress of works through monthly written reports for the renovation works.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
•   At least 5 years of demonstrated program or project management experience
•   Demonstrated experience training and supervising employees
•   Ability to multi-task in a high-paced environment
•   Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are required
•   Proficiency with MS Office Suite, with excellent MS Word and Excel skills

Preferred Qualification

•   Experience working with USAID- or other USG-funded projects is strongly desired
