A leading agro-processing company is looking for a qualified candidate to occupy the position of: Deputy Production Manager

Job Purpose

The Deputy Production Manager (who will be reporting to the General Manager) will be responsible for managing the company's factory facilities, as well as planning and supervising the company's production process to meet orders of specified products at agreed quality standards and also be responsible for scheduling manpower for the completion of each production stage on time and on budget.

Key Responsibilities

•   Oversee the production process, draw up production schedule and plan raw material needs for the efficient production processes of the company
•   Ensure production is cost effective, on time on budget and meets quality standards
•   Implement requirements of the Food Safety and Quality System and ensure department compliance with health and safety requirements
•   Predict requirement for machinery to avoid bottlenecks
•   Be involved in new product development
•   Manage people productivity and in accordance with company's procedure and culture
•   Maintain constant contact with logistics Department and alert them of any difficulties that may affect airfreight bookings
•   Ensure that production processes are properly understood and followed through regular scheduled training of subordinates
•   Handle grievances of staff in collaboration with the Human Resources Manager
•   Undertake annual appraisals and performance management of subordinates,
•   Plan and monitor leave and training programmes of subordinates effectively
•   Participate in the preparation, implementation and monitoring of the company's budget with the view to ensuring business profitability and sustainbility
•   Regularly monitor and develop reports on actual performance against planned performance and update the General Manager on same and undertake any other duties assigned by superiors

Qualification Required & Experience

•   1st Degree in Food Science and Technology or Chemical Engineering
•   A master's degree in any of the above would be an added advantage
•   Not less than 2 years work experience in the food and beverage industry
•   Good oral and written English
•   Strong knowledge in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Power Point.
