Overall Purpose:
• The Digital Engagement Associate is responsible for developing and implementing digital strategies that advance YES-Ghana’s youth outreach, policy advocacy, fundraising, marketing and communications objectives. The Digital Engagement Associate is also responsible for developing strategies to increase the visibility and growth of YES-Ghana’s brand, and increase and enhance constituent engagement in all things digital, from website to social media to e-marketing.
• The Digital Engagement Associate also serves as webmaster for www.yesghana.org and other project websites, and is responsible for empowering staff and volunteers to manage and create content for the website and other social tools. This is a highly collaborative position, working closely with the rest of the programmes team, including field teams in various locations. As a result, the ideal candidate should be skilled at coordinating teams and managing multiple priorities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop and test creative models for engaging young people and a variety of other audiences
• Write, edit and manage development of content for digital activities, including multimedia content for social media platforms, action alerts, donor appeals and other electronic grassroots communications)
• Oversee all aspects of www.yesghana.org and all project websites, including integration of existing microsites, increase of traffic to site, and improvement of user experience
• Develop strategy to leverage www.yesghana.org and other project websites to share and promote the organisation’s work and brand
• Analyse current performance of www.yesghana.org and other project websites and create plan to improve user experience and maximise potential of site
• Train and support staff and volunteers to generate and post content to www.yesghana.org and other project websites
• Develop and execute plan for improving YES-Ghana’s social media engagement, including generating campaigns to activate existing constituents and engage new ones
• Develop social media guidelines for staff
• Train and support staff in leveraging social media to amplify their work
• Work with others to generate content for social media platforms
• Support organisation-wide efforts to utilise Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) to improve constituent engagement.
• Ensure staff members follow e-marketing best practices when engaging constituents, and support staff and to better engage constituencies
• Provide technical support to staff to ensure brand standards
• Generate monthly and periodic reports on performance metrics
• Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification Required & Experience
Education, Experience & Attributes
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, digital/online/social media, public relations, strategic communications, marketing, or related field
• Proficient in html, css, xml, web analytics, etc
• Experience with WordPress and other content management systems
• Understanding of video production processes and direction; experience with video shooting, editing and related software
• Understanding of relationships of social media to site traffic, purchasing/commerce, membership, etc
• Experience in search engine optimization (SEO)
• Excellent written and interpersonal communication and presentation skills
• Minimum three years of experience in multi-platform (social media, video, web, digital marketing, etc) content development. Proven results in driving online engagement
• Excellent/punchy writing and editing skills
• Creative and strategic thinker; able to demonstrate how a creative idea is backed by data/evidence
• Demonstrated understanding of the integration of digital media with traditional corporate communications activities
• Knowledge of web-enabled technologies, as well as existing and emerging social networking tools, technologies and trends
• Knowledge of social media and website tools, metrics and analytics
• Understanding of non-profit organisations with diverse stakeholders
• Ability to plan and manage several projects simultaneously
• Diplomacy, tact and confidence
• Familiarity with, and a passion for, youth development issues
