Job Vacancy For Director of Finance
Job Purpose
• The Director of Finance will be responsible for planning, directing and controling financial functions for the newly established University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC). This will include preparing the budget, conducting financial analysis and preparing financial reports, developing and implementing an effective system of accounting, managing the payroll system and maintaining accurate and current by law records.
• The post holder will also manage the following roles: Head of Accounts, Head of Budget and the Head of Stores
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
• Prepare financial statements and interpret financial information for use by the organisation's stakeholders
• Offer professional advice on the organisation's financial arrangements and performances
• Control the disbursement of funds
• Ensure that all financial transactions within the involving the organisation is done in accordance with the Financial Administration Act, 2003 (Act 654), Internal Audit Agency Act, 2003 (Act 658), Financial administration regulation, 2004 (L.I 1802), Procurement Act, 2003 (Act 663), etc
• Manage the organisation's financial accounting, monitoring and reporting systems
• Develop a system that employs financial management mechanisms to minimize financial risks
• Manage the organisation's budgets
• Lead and motivate the finance staff of the organisation
• Undertake other duties commensurate with this role
Qualification Required & Experience
Candidates seeking this position must:
• Have a Master's Degree (In Accounting/Finance or a related field of specialization)
• Be a member of a recognised professional accounting body e.g ICA, ACCA, CIMA etc
Have at least 8 years of post professional qualification working experience, 4 of which must be in a senior management position in a reputable organisation
• Have a good understanding of tax and statutory requirements

• Must be willing to be flexible with work schedule to get job done, as required
• Must be able to manage multiple projects and meet established deadlines
