Job Vacancy For Driver / Special Assistant At International Justice Mission (IJM)



International Justice Mission (IJM) is a fast growing international organization working to protect some of the most vulnerable and oppressed people from violent forces of injustice by securing rescue and restoration for victims and ensuring public justice systems work for the poor.  IJM is seeking two professional and energetic individuals to serve as Drivers/Special Assistants in IJM’s fight against forced labor trafficking of children in Ghana. The successful candidates will be responsible for the maintaining IJM vehicles in safe and reliable condition and for securing IJM staff, clients and partners security of IJM staff on the road. These positions report to Director of Administration and are based in Accra, but will require extensive driving throughout southern Ghana.

Responsibilities
Driving and vehicle maintenance

•   Transport IJM staff, clients and partners throughout southern Ghana;
•   Coordinate all transport needs with various departments in the IJM office;
•   Develop and improve IJM’s transport system and processes;
•   Enforce office policies and procedures regarding use of IJM vehicles;
•   Ensure IJM employees are competent to drive the vehicles with valid driving licenses;
•   Ensure that vehicles are fueled, co-ordinate repairs and scheduled service, and ensure that records are kept for all necessary maintenance;
•   Perform daily maintenance of the assigned vehicle(s), including checking the oil, water, battery, brakes, tires etc., perform minor repairs and arrange for major repairs;
•   Ensure that the vehicle is kept clean and in good running condition at all times;
•   Ensure proper use of vehicles through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, daily mileage, fuel consumption, oil changes, greasing etc.;
•   Assist casework staff in securing rescue and restoration of clients and accountability for forced labor perpetrators; and
•   Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Networking

•   Manage relationships with external vehicle service providers to ensure that IJM gets good value for money on all contracted services; and
•   Maintain relationships with other transport providers such as cab drivers and car hire companies for supplementing transport needs when IJM vehicles are not sufficient or available.

Administrative Support

•   Assist in the effective administration of the office, including procuring of office supplies, file organization, delivery and collect of critical communications, etc.;
•   Assist the Director of Administration with inventory/stock counts; and
•   Perform clerical work related to administrative services such as sorting, filing, photocopying, faxing, posting, and other errands, etc. as required.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Skilled, professional driving experience;
•   Knowledge of Accra city streets and southern Ghana roadways;
•   Proficient in automotive mechanical repairs;
•   Ability to service and work on vehicles; and
•   Proficient in written and spoken English.

•   Safe and skillful driver;
•   Personable and courteous to passengers;
•   Self-motivated, with mature judgment;
•   Professional presentation in demeanor and oral communication; and
•   Works well under stress and sustained positive attitude.
