Job Vacancy For Economic Adviser – Grade A2L At DFID Ghana



DFID Ghana needs an experienced Economic Adviser, based in the Governance Team. This person will provide advisory inputs across the team's wide-ranging programme, and will also provide economic analysis and input across DFID and the British High Commission in Ghana.

Monthly gross salary range for the position range from GHS5,123 to GHS7,173.

The Role in relation to the Core Competences

Delivering Value for Money

•   Demonstrate practical expertise in quantitative microeconomic analysis, to be able to deliver cost benefit analysis and economic appraisal of development projects.
•   Apply economic concepts and approaches to programme management, including in design of new programmes, reviewing on-going programmes, and tackling issues around financial management, incentives for reform, and political economy.

Delivering at Pace

•   Lead on public financial management In the Good Governance Team
•   Produce high quality economic analysis and briefings in a fast-paced and complex environment; very strong written and presentation skills.
•   Provide strong analytical input into a wide set of issues across teams, including on assessing fiduciary risks, political economy, and incentive structures.

Managing a Quality Service

•   Provide regular, high-quality, and useful macroeconomic analysis to the
•   British High Commission in Ghana.
•   Promote joint and high quality engagement with the Government of Ghana and other agencies such as the IMF on macroeconomics issues, through regular engagement with Government and donor community.

Seeing the Big Picture

•   Represent DFID at external events relevant to public financial management and economics.
•   Ensure that relevant public financial management and economic issues are effectively fed into office strategy and decision making.

Changing and Improving

•   Be open to change, and encourage ideas from a wide range of sources and stakeholders to feed into analysis and actions.<
•   Tackle complex issues in a positive manner, encouraging others to do the same.
•   Provide constructive challenge on economics-related issues and approaches.

•   Communicate and influence effectively, developing effective working relationships within DFID and with partners in the Ghana government, other donors, business and private sector, and civil society partners.
•   Develop a good network of external stakeholders across the private sector, government and academia, including with key economics agencies and think tanks.

Qualification Required & Experience

Pre-requisites
A minimum of a master's degree in Economics, or an equivalent degree with postgraduate level training in public financial management, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, International Economics and Quantitative Economics. A strong track record of professional work applying economics and public finance management skills.
