IWAD is a newly incorporated company with the mandate to develop and manage the sisili Kulpawn Irrigation Project in the Northern Region of Ghana. The company's vision is to expand commercially viable irrigation practices in the Sisili-Kulpawn basin through the delivery of high quality irrigation support, new technology development and knowledge transfer, promoting water use efficiency and sustainability and secure farmer revenues for both smallholders and the nucleus estates. To help bring this vision to crystallization, we are looking for qualified and self-motivated professionals to assume the following positions at contribute to the implementation of the project.

Key Functions & Responsibilities

•   Direct and coordinate work activities, such as planting, irrigation, chemical application, harvesting, grading, payroll, and recordkeeping
•   Contract farmers / and farmer groups for raising crops or for management of crop production
•   Coordinate growing activities with those of engineering, equipment maintenance, packing houses and other related departments
•   Analyse market conditions to determine acreage allocations for various crops
•   Confer with purchasers and arranges for sales of crops
•   Record information, such as production, farm management practices and parent stock and prepare financial and operational reports
•   Analyse soil to determine type and quantity of fertilizer required for maximum production
•   Inspect fields to determine maturity dates of crops or to estimate potential crop damage from weather

Qualification Required & Experience

•   A Bachelor of Science or Higher National Diploma in Agribusiness / Agriculture
•   At least 8 years experience in similar capacity
•   Be in a position which is similar in capacity as this position

Required Knowledge, Skills & competencies

•   Strong leadership and strategic orientation
•   Have proven ability in the farm management and field experience in keeping with the size and complexity of this position
•   Proven knowledge with working with sugarcane under irrigation
•   Must be familiar with the operations of Center Pivot Irrigation Systems
•   Have the necessary planning and organisational skills to achieve targets and carry out company policies as applicable to field operations
•   Must be self-motivated and able to communicate effectively at all levels both within and outside the company
•   Ability to manage the role as a manager within a corporate farming operation and work actively as a team member in developing and achieving company objectives
