A Cocoa Buying company based in Kumasi seeks the services of a Female Gender Officer.

Main Purpose of Job

•   To plan, coordinate and ensure an effective gender office of a Cocoa buying company and empower female farmers.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

•   Gender Expertise: Understanding of History of Gender and Gender Development, gender analysis framework, particularly gender mainstreaming in agricultural value chain
•   Understanding Mainstream: Should understand gender main stream in knowledge and skills, hands-on on gender analysis and gender mainstream
•   Should understand strategies for Women empowerment
•   Understand legal frame work for gender
•   Understand Triple role i.e (Productive: cash or in kind, Reproductive: Biological reproduction, Social reproduction, Community Policities, Community Management
•   Should appreciate work intensity
•   Understand sensitivity of gender roles
•   Understand attitudinal change

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Educated to degree level in a relevant subject (social sciences, community development etc.)
•   At least two years of community development work, experience of working directly with smallholder farmers
•   Experience of labour and/or labour rights protection issues (desirable)
