Job Vacancy For Food Technologist

• Under the supervision of the Head of Programme and the overall supervision of Deputy Country Director, the successful candidate will perform the following duties:
Job Purpose:
• To ensure that fortified foods, especially Supercearl (SC) and Supercereal pius (SC+) as well as enriched flours produced by project partners/beneficiaries (Industrial and community level processors respectively) through the "Enhanced Nutrition and Value Chains (ENVAC)" project, conform to WFP's Food quality and Safety Specifications as well as Food Safety and quality assurance Standards Law in Ghana. In charge of the food quality in general for the Ghana CO. he/she will be in charge of making sure that the food distributed by WFP is complying with WFP's specifications.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist partners/beneficiaries in drafting! (or adjust existing) and adopting Standards Operating Procedures (SOP) and International Quality Control (IQC) for quality SC and SC+ and enriched flours production.
• Compile, check, approve product speclflcetions and labelling.
• Review and improve raw material supply, safety and security systems.
• Ensure that stringent hygiene food safety standards are met.
• Monitor the use of fortificants and other additives.
• Collate and analyze data and contribute to the preparation of reports relating to food quality and safety. to inform risk management and mitigation and contribute to a WFP wide view of food technology activities. .
• Prepare evidenced based recommendations for senior staff on control measures to combat and reduce food commodity spoilage, losses and food quality and safety issues. .
• Develop food standards. safety and sanitary regulations, and waste management and water supply specifications specific to Industrial Processors and Community Level Food Processors.
• Check regularly in the warehouses that all the good practice are respected (clean. ventilated, temperature and humidity not too high, but also that the traceability is respected too).
• Train/sensitize regularly the staff on quality (in particular the staff who work in the warehouses).
• Conduct quality audits of the suppliers.
• Other as required.
Qualification Required & Experience
• Advanced university degree in Food Technology, Health Sciences, Food Control, Nutrition or other related field. or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and or training/courses.
• A well-organized agro processor equipped with necessary technology to ensure that quality and standards are maintained according to international specification ad adhere to food safety regulations.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, good team-working abilities, being confident independent worker, meticulous attention to detail especially with regard to food hygiene and safety
• Successful candidate will have a strong analytical and numerical skills and real interest in food fortification.
• In depth knowledge of Food Safety and quality assurance Standards Law in Ghana
• Fluency in English language
