Description Of Job

ACDI/VOCA Ghana is currently implementing the four-year Agricultural Development and Value Chain Enhancement Program (ADVANCE) funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The ADVANCE project aims to facilitate a transformation of Ghana's agricultural sector in select industries to achieve increased competitiveness in domestic and regional markets.

The ADVANCE Project is currently seeking an Accountant. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

•  Establishing and maintain cash controls
•  Ensure data/accounts transactions is entered into the project's accounting system/quick books
•  Prepare payment vouchers, Disbursement Vouchers and issue cheques for all accounts due
•  Maintain financial files and records
•  Ensure the safeguarding of all project funds
•  Issue, code and authorize purchase orders
•  Prepare journal summaries
•  Reconcile weekly deposits
•  Liaise with SSNIT for the regular payment of Staff Pension contributions
•  Liaise with Internal Revenue Service for regular payment of withholding taxes and follow up Tax Credit Certificates to the appropriate authorities/personnel
•  Review of all Expense Reports
•  Distribute Staff pay slips and ensure that each staff acknowledges receipt
•  Ensure that vouchers, including checks requests, journals and deposit memos are available and make photocopies whenever the need arises
•  Learn ADVANCE accounting procedures

Qualification Required & Experience

•  Minimum of BSc Accounting Option or Higher National Diploma in Accounting
•  ICA Part 2, ACCA level 2 will be an added advantage
•  At least three (3) years of experience
•  Experience and knowledge of USAID Accounting principles and procedures
•  Demonstrate understanding of accounting and spreadsheet
•  Advanced working knowledge in excel, with proficiency in word, QuickBooks
•  Excellent communication skills/team player
