Job Description
• Provide professional leadership in developing, implementing and evaluating financial plans and strategies aimed at efficient and effective receipt and disbursement of funds in order to ensure that all financial transactions are in line with approved company financial policies and procedures.
• Develop effective financial management systems and procedures aimed at improving financial reporting and accounting.
• Implement stringent expenditure control procedures by ensuring that proper authorization for payments is strictly followed, any expenditure incurred are supported by payment vouchers and other valid accounting documents as well as ensuring that budgetary allocations are not exceeded without justifiable cause.
• Analyse financial information detailing Company’s assets, liabilities and capital and preparing financial statements and other reports to summarise current and projected financial position in order to ensure availability of funds to implement planned activities.
• Design and coordinate the implementation and maintenance of financial information systems to cover the general ledger, asset management as well as revenue collection systems.
• Develop and implement an effective financial management system and procedures aimed at improving banking and cash collection of funds and also to ensure that funds are promptly banked and accounted for in accordance with prescribed regulations.
• Coordinate preparation of payment vouchers, cheque books and cash book records as well as financial statements and entries to monthly accounts in accordance with accounting regulations.
• Liaise with the Human Resources department for up-to-date information on Company’s staff changes and employment records in order to effect accurate salary payments within given deadlines.
• Preparation of Group budget.
• Preparation of invoices.
• Carrying out the duties of the Director of Finance in his absence
• Any other duties that may be allocated from time to time
Qualification Required & Experience
• Considerable knowledge of accounting and budgeting principles and practices; financial and strategic planning, banking, accounting and financial management including planning, forecasting, budgeting and taxation
• Strong communication skills including ability to develop proposals, concept papers, position papers preparation of relevant reports.
• Effective interpersonal skills to establish cooperative working relationships in the course of performing assigned duties.
• Ability to resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyse information skilfully, develop alternative solutions, work well in group problem solving situations and reason when dealing with emotional topics.
• Ability to maintain professional status, high integrity and keep abreast of evolving trends in planning and budgeting through continuing professional development.
• Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook express including financial and statistical packages.
