Job Vacancy For ALAC Project Officer At SEND-GHANA (Tamale and WA)



SEND - GHANA is the oldest of the three affiliate national NGOs (i.e. SEND-Liberia and SEND Sierra Leone) establishedby the Social Enterprise Development of Foundation of West Africa ( SEND West Africa). SEND West Africa was founded in Ghana in August, 1998 to promote livelihood security, equality of women and men and accountable and transparent governance. The target groups of SEND’s programs are mostly women, youth and farmers in conflict prone , resource poor and difficult to reach communities in each country.

•   Duty Station: Tamale (Northern Region), Wa (Upper West Region)
•   Reporting to: Programme Officer
•   Responsibility: Increase number of actions taken on corruption related referrals to anti-corruption institutions under the Accountable Democratic Institutions and Systems Strengthening (ADISS) Project
•   Associates: Project Officers
•   External Relations: CSOs, anti-corruption institutions, Government Agencies, GII consortium, Professional Associates/Consultants and Media

Objectives of Position
To help contribute towards reduction of corruption in the project regions and districts

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

•   To ensure effective management of the ALAC and ADISS project;
•   Maintain the ALAC Information and Documentation centre;
•   Assist in the development, facilitation and management of advocacy strategies for ADISS;
•   To empower citizens to report corruption
•   Raise awareness on corruption and the need for corruption reporting
•   Receive complaints from witnesses or victims of corruption through emails, post mails, face to face meeting or telephone calls
•   Follow up on all complaints on behalf of the complainants to relevant institutions to ensure the complainants receives redress
•   Preparation of all quarterly ALAC reports and prompt submission to Programme Officer;
•   To ensure that the ALAC provides client-friendly, professional and quality legal advice and guidance to victims and witnesses of corruption;
•   To oversee the systematic collection and use of ALAC data, and use it to advocate for structural reforms under the ADISS project;
•   To develop and maintain close working relationship with key stakeholders.
•   To ensure availability and effective use of resources for ALAC operation.
•   Liaise with Programme Officer to conduct advocacy and campaign programmes under the ADISS projectTo carry out any other tasks assigned  by the SEND GHANA

Qualification Required & Experience

•   A minimum of first Degree or equivalent in a pertinent field (E.g.  Social Science, Political science, Development studies, Information Studies,etc)
•   Minimum of three years’ work experience, with a focus on law reforms and project coordination, preferably in the field of governance and anti-corruption issues.
•   Must be a self-starter who requires minimum or no prompting
•   Media relationship skills
•   Excellent networking, open  minded, communication, and interpersonal skills
•   Strong organizational and time management skills
•   Experience in training/capacity-building and technical backstopping
•   Working knowledge of MS Office, online communications and related applications.
•   Experience in leading a team
•   Must be willing to live and work in remote areas
