Job Vacancy For Assistant Country Director / Head of Programmes At VSO International (Tamale)



Assistant Country Director  is wanted for employment by VSO. VSO Ghana has recently introduced a new and exciting 5 year strategy that has refocused most of its resources in the three northern regions where we will realize our ambition of providing partner organizations with a wide range of support, putting people at the centre of our work and ensuring accountability across our whole programme.

Description Of Job

We are looking for a strong, innovative leader to join our programme's senior management team and lead our operations in the north.

Key responsibilities will be:

. Leadership and line management of all operational staff and volunteers in the north
. Implementation of the VSO Ghana CSP operations in the north, developing a cluster approach for delivery
. Develop and implement a Partner Engagement Strategy across all northern regions
. Oversee the delivery of donor funded projects and ensure proper management of restricted funding
. Initiate and explore potential donor partnerships and joint programming opportunities
. Manage all risk management resolution activities for the entire VSO Ghana programme
. Financial accountability for the operations in the north and with the CD, for the whole programme

Qualification Required & Experience

. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to implement and manage VSO Ghana's new approach to programming in the north.
. This challenging position will require an exceptional people to manage with the ability to lead, manage and work alongside programme staff, volunteers and partners.
. In particular, the successful candidate will recognise the value of and encourage working in partnership with, volunteers.
. A flexible approach, sound judgment and proven leadership skills are essential.
. A strong background in humanitarian programme and project development is required with the ability to communicate clearly and to represent VSO at the highest level.
. The new ACD will have proven experience of managing substantial restricted funding and will have the track record of successful fundraising.
