Job Vacancy For Assistant District Officer At Public Institution
Applications are invited from suitable qualified Ghanaians for the following vacant position within a Public Institution.
Job Purpose
Assist in controlling and supervising the day-to-day activities of Small-Scale miners in the district
Working Environment: Office-based with routine travels to sites
Duties
• Assist in receiving and documenting Small-Scale Mining applications and reports and transmitting same to Head Office
• Assist in preparing annual budgets of the District Centre
• Assist in preparing background information on applicants for small Scale Mining license
• Carry out inspection of small scale prospecting companies
• Assist in assessing level of Small Scale Mining (Legal and Illegal) activities within large scale concessions being applied for
• Assist in inspecting small, medium scale mining operations and advise accordingly
• Assist in preparing programmes for monitoring activities of small-scale miners and enforce laws in relation to health and safety
• Assist in preparing monthly/annual reports of the District
• Assist in educating small-scale miners on the environmental impact of mining
• Assist in promoting and providing technical advice to the Small Scale Miners
• Assist in instituting measures for the Small Scale Mining operators to reclaim the degraded land after their operations
• Undertake routine visits to sites of the Small Scale Mining operators
• Act for the District Officer in his absence
• Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time
• Assist the Head of Department in safe-guarding assets in the District
Qualification Required & Experience
• First degree in Mining Engineering with 3 years relevant post qualification experience in the mining industry OR
• University Diploma in Mining Engineering with 6 years relevant post qualification experience in the mining industry.
