Job Vacancy For Business Improvement Superintendent – HME At Gold Fields Limited
Abosso Goldfields Ltd, a subsidiary of Gold Fields Limited. Located in a tropical climate, the Damang Gold Mine is a world-class operation,consisting of 25 Mtpa open pit-mining operations and a 5.2 Mtpa CIL metallurgical plant. The mine is situated in the Western Region of Ghana and is ISO 14001 and OHSAS18001 certificated. It has a current Life of Mine expectency to the year 2019 and beyond.
Description Of Job
Purpose of the Job:
The HME Department is seeking to employ a dedicated, experienced and self-motivated applicant will ensure sustainable business improvement and cost saving of the mine through the development and implementation of effective and efficient business improvement projects, methodologies and associated techniques, in line with the company's short and long term business and operational objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
. Provide strategic and tactical leadership to enable the HME Department to enhance operational performance
. Facilitate the identification, development and implementation of business improvement in accordance with frameworks, instructions and operational parameters
. Facilitate and influence the delivery of ideas processes and ensure that the HME Department proactively drive the initiatives
. Research and establish benchmark operating performance parameters
. Facilitate the development and embedding of a continuous improvement culture
. Expedite and tracking delivery of hard and quantifiable bottom line benefits
. Investigate and evaluate new methodologies and procedures to ensure operational improvements
. Coach Supervisors on business improvement methodologies and application of business
. Provide effective management and controls to process deliverables
. Provide technical inputs in monitoring all departmental project plans to identify deviations and proactively address these to ensure timely correction and continuance of the project according to the overall project plan
. Take active approach to health, safety and environment requirements and promote safety improvement ideas/best practices across the department
. Manage BI communications throughout the functional units of the department
. Develop and mange B1 targets with the HOD
. Help assemble, facilitate and drive cross-functional teams to generate BI projects that deliver on the above value delivery targets
. Provide leadership to help teams perform baseline measurements, define physical Key Peformance Indicators (KPIs) and leverage them into financial KPIs in accordance with BI guidelines
Qualification Required Or Experience
. Tertiary qualification in Mining/Mechanical Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized institution
. Minimum of four (4) years experience in the mining industry with hands on experience on Heavy Mining Equipment
. Have a proven track record of identifying, implementing and managing Business Improvement initiatives
. Have experience in the use of business improvement tools such as Six Sigma and LEAN
. High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suit; particularly Excel
. Excellent communication, coaching, interpersonal and analytical skills
. Have sound financial and statistical knowledge
. Ability to build relationships and work well across functions
. Must be able to manage competing demands, accept
