Job Purpose:
The Civil Engineer who will report to the Lead Civil Engineer shall be responsible for the review and follow-up on the design of all civil works and structures in accordance with the EPC Contract. He will also be safe sequential construction of the civil works on site in accordance with the technical specifications of EPC contract, and applicable codes and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• In conjunction with the Owners Engineer analyses and approves (subject to appropriate qualifications) relevant documents, including drawings, layouts, and schematics conformity with the contractural
• Ensures the timely follow-up including the design of the civil works and structures provided by the EPC Contractor
• Ensures the follow-up of the civil construction activities on-site in co-ordination with the EPC Contractor's teams, Owners Engineer, and T2 teams etc.;
• Ensures compliance of civil construction with the relevant codes and standards in accordance with the technical specifications, the EPC contract, and local applicable laws;
• Participates in site meetings with the EPC Contractors and prepares formal meeting notes;
• Manages the interfaces and co-ordination between the EPC Contractor's teams, the T2 teams, etc. in relation to civil works;
• Validates the technical reports and analyses incidents in co-operation with other involved parties;
• Prepares regular technical reports and analyses incidents in co-operation with other involved parties;
• Drafts amendments and purchase requisitions/technical specifications relative to additional orders as necessary;
• Ensures high quality of the execution of the civil works in conformity with the Quality Assurance Plan, technical Quality Assurance Plan, technical specifications of EPC contract and good industry practice;
• Maintains good team work and works closely with the Owners Engineer, the T2 O&M teams, the teams of the EPC Contractors, and T2 project implementation team;
• Monitors progress of the civil works and comments on the project schedules in collaboration with the other members of T2 implementation team and identifies serious slippage to the schedule and proposes eventually to EPC Contractor recovery measures;
• Monitors full compliance of the HSE procedures of TICO and the EPC Contractor in all areas that the EPC Contractors in all area that the EPC Contractor recovery measures;
• In conjunction with the Owner Engineer and other members of the project iimplementation team ensures accurate civil work drawings and maintained and that field changes and as-built drawings are properly documented;
• Any other duties as may be required within the experience and competence of the appointed person
Qualification Required & Experience
Educational Qualification & Competencies:
• Civil engineering degree with 5 years experience in the implementation of major power plant works
• Good English and communication skills;
• Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project
• Team player and excellent interpersonal skills
• Proven experience in construction of major civil engineering works (from design phase through to completion) and preferably in GAS/Oil fired CCGT power plants
• Must be comfortable in both a team and individual work environments
• Must be able to co-ordinate work with internal and external clients
• Excellent analytical skills
• Sound judgment and effective problem-solving capablity
• Good communication skills (oral and written)
• Results-driven orientation
• Sense of intiative
• Strong ability to multi-task and prioritise activities
