Job Vacancy For Communications Consultant At AgriBiz Africa



Since their inception, the ATP and E-ATP projects have identified strong and focused communications and outreach activities as essential in creating knowledge, visibility, and effective regional presence of the project, and communicating project activities and achievements to key stakeholder across the region, including USAID, ATP and E-ATP have a full time communications and outreach team with background in media and communications, but as project activities, achievements, and audiences continue to expand across the region, the projects require a Communications consultant to support the projects' communications efforts to give further support to the development and implementation of the end-of-year communications strategy that will communicate project activities and achievements to both USAID and specific stakeholder audiences across the West Africa region, in the final year of the project.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Communications consultant will be based in the project office in Accra, Ghana, with periodic travel within West Africa. She/he will assist, on a part-time basis, the communications staff based in Accra in designing/implementing a high-quality communications strategy in order to communicate effectively and efficiently project achievement to strategic stakeholders in a more focused manner.

Specific tasks include:

.  Working with communications staff and component leads to identify key project achievements, tailoring key messages to communicate these using different channels (media outlets, communications support materials, radio messages etc.) to reach relevant audiences.

.  Working with communications staff and value chain leads to identifying and developing success stores, press statements, newsletter articles, project briefs, and others in support of ATP and E-ATP project activities and achievements

.  Reviewing/editing communications documents/write-ups (including newsletter articles) to professional written communication standards.

.  Providing advice on maintenance and updating of project website content, ensuring the website accurately reflects the project's recent activities, reports, findings and successes

.  Providing advice on the use and maintenance of existing email contact list (including media, client, partners, etc) for the wide distribution and outreach of website, newsletter and other project materials

.  Supporting in media monitoring and coverage of the projects, and providing the main client (USAID/WA) and key sub clients (ECOWAS, UEMOA, producer/trade associations, national government collaborators, and other stakeholders) with appropriate media content

.  Providing advice/input to quarterly and annual reports.

Management of Consulting Services:

The consultant will report to the Chief of Party, but work primarily with ATP/Accra Communications and outreach team. It is envisioned that average LOE  would be 2-3 days per week. Flexible arrangements in terms of work place will be considered

Qualification Required & Experience

.  Strong writing skills in English are required and fluency in French highly desirable.
.  Professional qualification and experience in Communications, Journalism or Public Relations
.  Experience in working with USAID-funded projects
.  Work experience in the West Africa region
.  Ability to generate creative ideas and media to communicate project accomplishments to stakeholders
