For over three decades, World Vision has been working with rural communities in all the 10 Administrative Regions of Ghana to provide portable water, promote sanitation and hygiene practices, quality education, particularly at the basic level, enhance food security and respond to disasters.
Job Summary
World Vision Ghana (WVG) is looking for a highly qualified, proactive, motivated and resourceful person to fill the position above.
Location: Head Office, Accra
Annual Basic Salary: GH¢36,500 + Benefits

Reports To: National Director
Purpose of the Position:
To lead the development and implementation an integrated communications and marketing strategy that informs stake holders of World Vision's mission, values, competencies, the impact of its operations in Ghana; and presents World Vision Ghana as the agency of choice for donors and government agencies on child protection, participation and development.
Major Responsibilities:
• Lead the development and implementation of an integrated Communications & Marketing strategy that supports the program strategy of WV Ghana.
• Manage the planning and production of feature stories (especially those with a child focus), publicity materials, the annual report, press releases, photographs, videos, Partnership marketing resources and other strategic communications as required.
• Develop and maintain professional contacts and personal relationships with key local print, radio and TV media and assist them by offering story opportunities, arranging project visits and interviews.
• Oversee the development of advocacy-oriented communications products including web-based and print materials, posters, briefing papers, reports, stories and photo essays. Take the lead to ensure that the WV Ghana web page is regularly updated.
• Plan and manage all "rapid response" communications in situations of organizational crises, and during the onset on natural disasters or other major emergencies to which World Vision Ghana will respond
• Submit articles for inclusion in the World Vision Partnership publications; News Vision and Connections.
• Identify, train and position other media spokespersons within WV Ghana - from the ADP project-level to senior leadership - - as strategic and appropriate for responding to media inquiries.
• Develop a management plan for implementation if/as needed to protect the reputation of WV Ghana from actual or potential media crises.
• Spearhead the planning and implementation of Communication for Development (C4D) in all the ADPs, as part of a Partnership-wide goal of increasing community voices in Ghana
Qualification Required & Experience
Job Specification:
• Education required: A university degree or equivalent in Journalism or Communications studies or related discipline.
• Experience: At least 5 years of professional experience in areas of international communications, media and journalism.
Technical Skills & Abilities:
• Excellent writing skills, with photographic and/or video skills also preferred
• Demonstrated ability to think and manage strategically, plan and meet deadlines
• General experience in project management, with specific experience in the production of diverse and creative communications projects including publications, multi-media, web-sites/pages, photo and video reports, etc
• Donor engagement, internal communications, emergency communications and some level of advocacy communications
• Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills
• Experience and ability to travel locally and internationally
