ActionAid Ghana (AAG), an Affiliate of ActionAid is looking to employ experienced and self- motivated individuals to fill the following positions: Communications Officer
Role Overview:
This position exists to provide administrative and technical support to the PR/Communications Manager with special focus on media monitoring.
Key Responsibilities:
• Write impactful and page-turning stories for publication in AAG’s newsletters, fliers, and other communication materials for advocacy and campaign work.
• Assist in the development and implementation of a communications strategy to guide the department’s operations.
• Edit articles, change stories and press releases for publication.
• Provide support for photography and video recording of AAG’s event launches and project visits.
• Support with the development and editing of annual reports and research materials to meet AAG’s publishing guidelines and acceptable professional standards.
• Conduct social media research about AAG and CSO policy interactions in local and international media
• Monitor AAG’s programme interventions on pro-Ghanaian internet portals and blogs.
• Organise coverage for AAG’s events in the media and assist with identifying opportunities for consistent media coverage and strategic media engagements.
• Regularly update AAG’s social media accounts – Twitter and Facebook – with current, fresh and engaging content.
• Develop a matrix for effective media monitoring and update of media contacts, and support to forge closer partnership with the media
Qualification Required & Experience
• The candidate must hold a 1st Degree in a relevant field with a least 2 years relevant experience and proven track recordin a development sector that translates into the following competencies:
Technical:
• Knowledge of principles in developing a Communications Strategy
• Knowledge of digital marketing approach for fundraising
• Experienced in oral and written communication
• Knowledge of research and digital documentation principles
• Ability to develop and design publications and newsletters
• Knowledge of social media management and research principles
• Ability to organize media coverage events
• Knowledge of Child Protection laws and regulations
Personality:
• Ability to ability to control anger, frustration, tension and nervousness, especially in conflict situatopms
• Ability to pay attention to details
• Ability to take intiatives and good judgements
• Must have a friendly disposition and be easily approachable
• Ability to cope with work, time and people pressures
Job Circumstances:
This is a three(3) year renewable employment contract on national items and conditions. The role involves frequent travel within Ghana.
Annual Gross Salary Range: GH¢ 28,812 to ¢48,800
