Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) - is a public-benefit federal enterprise working in more than 100 countries worldwide. Project Brief:

• The Resilience Against Climate Change (REACH) project aims to strengthen climate resilience in 14 districts in the Upper West, North East, and Savannah regions, and targeting 200 communities by 2025. It focuses on enhancing the capacities of 14 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs); promoting Conservation Agriculture (CA) for sustainable adoption across the 200 communities; and empowering local government stakeholders to develop and implement Community Action Plans (CAPs) that foster participatory planning and improve climate resilience.

Scope of Role:

• As a construction specialist, you will supervise construction projects, coordinate site surveys, validate designs and BoQs, support implementing parties during tenders, and maintain communication with contractors. You will also collaborate with GIZ internal stakeholders, monitor progress, ensure compliance, manage handovers, and address deficiencies for smooth execution

Tasks:

• Supervise construction projects, ensuring adherence to designs, specifications, and stakeholder needs
• Undertaking regular site visits in the project region.
• Coordinate technical site surveys and validate designs, drawings, and quantities before implementation.
• Support implementers (e.g. NGOs) in tenders by providing advice and ensuring construction quality standards.
• Foster communication and good relationships with implementers and contractors throughout execution.
• Collaborate with GIZ internal parties, preparing required documents for review and approval.
• Monitor and document project progress for reporting to M&E and management.
• Ensure compliance with GIZ guidelines and national building laws.
• Manage handovers, rectifications, and smooth transitions to users.
• Take on additional tasks when reasonable and appropriate.

Qualification Required & Experience

• Master’s degree in Engineering or Architecture, focus on construction or civil engineering or comparable.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in engineering or construction, including a minimum of 2 years in on-site
construction management or supervision.
• Experience with local building codes, safety standards, and guidelines of intern. organizations (e.g., GIZ).
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and create and maintain effective relationships with private
companies and government personnel.
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially MS Team, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Excellent command of English, both spoken and written.
• Proven ability to work independently and efficiently under pressure and within tight deadlines.
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills
