Job Description
The Construction/Works Manager shall be responsible for planning, co-ordination and control of construction projects from inception to fruition in a cost effective manner and in compliance with set regulations. He/she will be the main advisor to Management on all structural developments and works.
Reporting Relationship
The successful candidate shall report to the Director of General Services.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate shall:
• Plan, direct and coordinate all construction projects
• Schedule and coordinate project designs and supervise technical staff
• Ensure that projects are completed within specified time
• Determine the best source of construction materials
• Schedule and estimate the time required to complete projects and ensure that
• construction works are completed on schedule
• Supervise bids and tenders and negotiate scope and pricing of sub-contracts
• Determine labor requirements for projects
• Issue purchase orders for construction materials/supplies required, supervise the delivery and ensure that they are used judiciously
• Ensure that all safety precautions are adhered to by construction workers
• Obtain the necessary licenses or permits for new projects
• Monitoring the compliance with set regulations
• Take inventory of works and submit period reports on projects/works
• Perform other related duties that may be assigned
Qualification Required & Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Project Management or Real Estate Management or related area. A Master's degree would be an advantage
• Must have a minimum of five (5) years post-qualification working experience
• Must have working experience in infrastructural development and projects supervision
• Must be a member of relevant professional association
