A reputable SMPP Media Company is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the following posts: Database Administrator

Job Summary:

•  Monitoring performance and managing parameters to provide fast query responses to front-end users;
•  Mapping out the concept design for a planned database in outline;
•  Considering both back-end organization of data and front-end accessibility for end-users;
•  Refining the logical design so that it can be translated into a specific data model, further refining the physical design to meet system storage requirements
•  Installing and testing new versions and upgrades of the DBMS;
•  Maintaining data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Act;
•  Writing database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata)
•  Controlling access permissions and privileges;
•  Developing, managing and testing back-up and recovery plans;
•  Ensuring that storage, archiving, back-up and recovery procedures are functioning correctly, capacity planning;
•  Ensuring that databases meet user requirements

Qualification Required & Experience

•  1st Degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems (IMS)
•  4 years of experience as Database Administrator with strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles and best practices
•  Knowledge of business functions and ability to communicate with other employees in the company in both technical and non-technical roles
•  Understanding of, and experience with, server-client computing and relational database environments
•  Experience with data management and data processing flowcharting techniques
•  Knowledge of reporting and query tools and practices
•  Good understanding of the organisation goals and objectives
•  Good interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
•  Technical documentation skills
•  Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
•  Self motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail
•  Able to prioritize and execute task in a high-pressure environment
•  Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
•  Good written and oral communication skills
