Department: Information Technology

Purpose of Job:
The Information Technology (IT) Department of Tarkwa Gold Mine is seeking to employ an experience, self-motivated and results-driven individual as a Desktop Support Engineer to provide front line support to users and backend servers.

Key Responsibilities:

•  Provide on-site computer support and repair services to all business units
•  Provide technical support in a standard operating environment (SOE), Client-server architecture based environment
•  Provide mining application systems support
•  Ensure End User computer security
•  Support, monitor, test, and troubleshoot hardware and software problems pertaining to TCP/IP protocol based LAN
•  Provide basic End User computer training as and when needed
•  Identify, research, and resolve technical desktop computing problems
•  Document, track, and monitor all problems to ensure a timely resolution
•  Perform ad hoc duties or special projects related to area of responsibility

Qualification Required & Experience

Key requirements:

•  A tertiary qualification in Computer Science or related field
•  Relevant experience in PC troubleshooting, Networking, Communications and basics of Network Management
•  Minimum of two (2) years work experience in a similar position
•  A hands-on approach and willingness to work for long hours to obtain required results
•  Well-developed oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to interact with people of diverse cultures and levels
•  Strong analytical, interpersonal and organisational skills
•  Have a good customer relation skills
•  Have a clear knowledge of Microsoft operating system platforms
•  Be medically fit for the position and environment
•  Valid Ghanaian driver's licence and proficiency in driving light vehicles
