Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for appointment as Director of Information Technology Services in the University of Cape Coast.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Vice-Chancellor, the Director of Information Technology Services shall oversee the establishment of the Directorate into a viable functioning set up within the University. The key responsibilities of the Director include:
• Provide leadership for the development of a progressive IT environment within the University and all the distance learning centres;
• Develop policies, programmes and schedule that include privacy and security oversight for academic and administrative information processing and computer services to meet the goals and objectivces of the University
• Develop, direct, and manage all computing and IT strategic plans of the University;
• Oversee the development of the University's IT investment, advise senior management on strategic systems conversions and integration in support of institutional goals and objectives;
• Oversee the design, and facilitated the integration of sound IT architecture, technology standards and best practices for the University;
• Ensure the identification and installation of appropriate and progressive IT infrastructure that can support administration (e.g. networks, server platforms, communication lines, equipment, etc)
• Interact with senior decision makers on implementation of new applications and changes to existing computer systems and software as far as the capture, storage, processing and communication lines are concerned
Qualification Required & Experience
Candidates seeking appointment to this position must possess one of the following:
• PhD in Computer Science/Computer Engineering /MIS with at least four (4) years relevant experience as a Deputy Director (IT) in a University or a similar institution of higher learning or at least twelve (12) years relevant post graduate experience in computer system operation/application development and trainining in system analysis/design methodology;
• Information and Communication Technology Specialist with MBA/MSc/MPhil in Computer Engineering/MIS with at least fifteen (15) years working experience at senior management level
Plus:
• Experience in strategic planning and execution
• Experience in change management and negotiating
