The University of Ghana hereby, invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of Director, Legal Affairs Directorate, University of Ghana, to take effect from 1st August 2025.

POSITION: Director, Legal Affairs Directorate
REPORTING TO: Vice-Chancellor

Job Role

The successful applicant shall:

• provide legal advice on all University matters;
• draft, review or interpret all agreements involving the
• University;
• draft, review or interpret policies involving the University;
• represent or ensure appropriate representation of the University in dispute resolution proceedings, including out-of-court settlements.
• supervise all external legal services provided to the University to ensure that they meet the highest possible standards;
• facilitate the work of disciplinary boards or committees and provide legal support in the conduct of disciplinary proceedings;
• facilitate the work of the Appeals Board of the University;
• facilitate the work of the Anti-Corruption Committee of the University;
• serve on relevant planning and policy making committees of the University;
• review University initiatives, decisions and processes for legal compliance
• perform any other functions that the Council or the Vice-Chancellor may assign.

Qualification Required & Experience

The successful candidate must have:

• A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree
• A postgraduate degree in Law
• Be enrolled at the Ghana Bar Association
• Minimum of 15 years post qualification experience, at least 6 years of which should be at the managerial level
• substantial litigation experience
• proven leadership and administrative abilities, demonstrated by substantial and relevant work experience; evidence of coordinating work of units, sections or teams; ability to initiate policies; and ability to mentor.

SALARY

Attractive with fringe benefits including market premium, rent, security and responsibility allowance.

TENURE

The person appointed as Director of the Legal Affairs Directorate must be able to hold office for a period of four years on terms and conditions recommended by the Appointments Board, before reaching the statutory retirement age of 60 years, and may be eligible for re-appointment for a further term of up to four years.
