MS Health Care Solution (MSHS) is a wholly owned commercial subsidiary of Marie Stopes Sierra Leone (MSSL), established to sell reproductive and pharmaceutical commodities in Sierra Leone and Liberia, with plans to expand to Guinea and other parts of West Africa. Marie Stopes Sierra Leone (MSSL) is a non-governmental organisation that has been providing sexual and reproductive health care services in Sierra Leone since 1986.

Job Summary

•   The focus of the Director of Marketing & Business Development is to provide leadership and technical guidance for the marketing/communications and the business component of the country programme.
•   The successful candidate will be responsible for providing the vision for the development of high-impact targeted strategies that increase the reach, impact, and recognition of the organisation.
•   S/he will lead a technical team responsible for marketing, research and business development/accredited network(s), the call centre and corporate communications for the organisation.
•   The Director of Marketing and Business Development is a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) and will work in close collaboration with other SMT members to achieve the organisation's objectives.

Key responsibilities:

•   Leads in the development of strategies for increased market penetration and service numbers across all service delivery channels and for the call centre
•   Leads in the development of high-impact targeted marketing strategies (including community based mobilisation) and annual marketing plans and oversee their implementation
•   Ensures appropriate budgeting of marketing activities and maximisation of marketing investments
•   Provides leadership in the development of a positive relationship between MSIG and the media
•   Leads and supports the Marketing and Research teams to undertake performance reviews (performance management. setting of annual KPls and individual objectives)
•   Ensures quality leadership of team including motivation, recruitment and induction of new team members, change management, communication, rewards, learning and development
•   Leads in representing the organization at external programs as needed

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Bachelor's degree in relevant field - Marketing, Communications, Social Sciences etc
•   Masters degree or comparable professional experience in Business Management etc

Experience/Skill:

•   At least eight (8) years of post-graduate relevant work experience with at least four (4) years of experience in a significant senior management/director position
•   Experience in leading marketing and research teams and building collaborative business partnerships
•   Experience in successfully managing similar sized (or larger) annual departmental budgets
•   Exposure to both NGOs, INGOs and private sector institutions
•   Experience in managing projects and ability to perform under pressure, handle heavy workloads and meet stringent reporting deadlines
•   Strategic thinker, excellent analytical skills and strong attention to detail
•   Able to communicate effectively at all levels; excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
•   Strong commitment to the goals and vision of the organisation
•   Customer-focused with good interpersonal skills to engage with people at all levels (other team members, government, donor, partners, and community)
•   Self-motivator, enthusiastic and culturally sensitive
•   Pro-family planning and pro-choice
