Security Council Resolution 1325 on women, peace and security (2000) and Resolution 1820 on women, peace and security (2008) mandate Governments, the United Nations, regional organisations and civil society organisations to ensure that all efforts to promote peace and security address the adverse impact of conflicts on women and girls, and engage women in all efforts to build and sustain peace. As part of ongoing efforts to support implementation of Security Council Resolutions 1325 and 1820 in Africa, UNDP, UNIFEM, UNFPA and other donor partners will support the establishment of a Women, Peace and Security Institute at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Center (KAIPTC) in Accra, Ghana. Established in 2003, KAIPTC undertakes training and research on issues relating to peace and security in Africa, with most of its target participants being African countries. KAIPTC seeks an innovative and experienced Programme Officer to provide technical and programmatic support as part of small team to implement the work programme of the Women Peace and Security Institute during its start-up phase.
Description Of Job
Reports to: Head of Training Evaluation and Development (TED)
The position is a three (3) year contract renewal subject to performance
Job Purpose:
• The administration and support of the new KAIPTC E-Learning Programme
• Draw and update the KAIPTC Courses and Activities Programme for the year
Main Duties:
• To be responsible for keeping all administrative records up to date to ensure accuracy and efficiency in the KAIPTC E-Learning project
• Ensure that KAIPTC E-Learning materials are developed, up-dated and amended as appropriate (using e-learning authoring and content development software)
• Regularly review the effectiveness of all KAIPTC E-Learning modules, both for content and for learning outcomes
• To monitor customer feedback and identify potential enhancements to both the content and learning outcomes of KAIPTC E-Learning modules to improve effectiveness and user satisfaction
• Take a lead on identifying and implementing newest technologies to assist the KAIPTC E-Learning
• Prepare the KAIPTC Programme, KAIPTC Course Directors Allocation Matrix, KAIPTC Course Directors Synchronization Matrix and the KAIPTC Course Descriptions
• Perform any other job assigned by supervisor
Qualification Required & Experience
• A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology (IT) from a reputable University preferably
• At least 3 years working experience with e-learning
• Basic knowledge in French is desirable
Competencies:
• Demonstrated knowledge of the issues and implications of in-class and distance learning, along with mitigation strategies for dealing with them
• In-depth, hands-on knowledge of authoring technologies, intranet design tools and multi-media applications
• Proven experience with adult learning principles
• Good interpersonal skills
• Ability to take initiative
• Ability to be on top of different tasks at the same time
• Ability to work in a team to ensure that projects are accomplished within time
