The Editorial & Content Specialist will be a critical part of ACET’s growing communications team, helping to create compelling content in support of ACET’s mission and commitment to quality and consistent writing of all outputs

Unit/Program/Project Background:
Job Title: Editorial & Content Specialist
Reporting Line: Knowledge Manager
Location: Accra / Remote
Roles and Responsibilities
Specifically, the Editorial & Content Specialist will:
• Maintain yearly editorial calendar by shaping story ideas and angles around economic transformation issues based on ACET’s knowledge bank, emerging issues for Africa, key moments for influence, and input from project and research teams
• Produce short written pieces, including articles, blogs, and op-eds, based on ACET’s research and analysis
• Cover and recap ACET events, webinars, and engagements, providing key takeaways and next steps, compelling quotes, etc.
• Champion new and innovative ways of storytelling, including the use of infographics, data visualizations, and dynamically generated content
Editorial
• Serve as ACET’s in-house editor for day-to-day documents such as concept notes, PowerPoint presentations, post-event writeups, briefing notes, press releases, talking points produced by project teams
• Work with project teams to ensure all documents for external dissemination are well written, grammatically correct, fit for purpose, and consistent with the ACET style, in partnership with ACET’s Editor-in-Chief
Digital Content
• Lead production of ACET’s digital newsletter (African Transformation Quarterly) with support from Communications Assistant and broader team
• Manage ACET website content including uploading of articles, updating staff information, and changing out home page highlights and images on an ongoing basis to ensure website is timely, relevant, and accurate
• Develop monthly social media content calendar (tailored for all platforms) alongside ACET’s digital team covering themes, topics and ideas generated from reports and studies as well as overall trends on economic transformation, linked to key moments and accompanied by visuals developed by digital/creative team
• Write and edit social media copy for multiple platforms
• Develop scripts for ACET’s multimedia outputs including videos, podcasts, quote cards, sound bites working alongside ACET’s digital/creative team
Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time in support of ACET’s mission.

• Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
• Ability to unpack and provide clarity on complicated topics for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Self-motivated, strategic thinker with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
• Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to following and maintaining rigorous editorial standards.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a team-oriented mindset.
• Proficient in digital content and video production tools, particularly WordPress and Mailchimp.
• Competent in using Microsoft SharePoint and related Office suite products.
• Understanding of economic and social development policy in Africa, with a focus on economic transformation.
• Well-versed in digital and social media trends, with the ability to translate technical reports and studies into engaging digital content.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret data and reports, translating them into compelling stories.
• Familiarity with SEO best practices to optimize content for search engines.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
Qualification Required & Experience
Education and Experience
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (e.g., Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Digital Media, International Development)
• 4+ years of experience in content writing, digital communications, or a related field.
Desirable
• Experience in the context of economic and social development, particularly in Africa, would be highly desirable
• An ability to work in French will be an asset
