Job Vacancy For Employee Relations Manager At Stanbic Bank
The Role:
The successful candidate will provide strategic and operational employee relations advice and guidance to country executive and line management. The role encompasses educating and up-skilling Human Resources teams and line management regarding employee relations standards and procedures, working with third parties such as unions, attorneys, Labour Commission and the labour court in ensuring effective resolution of disputes as well as assisting in management and analysis of dispute resolution information and reports.
Key Responsibilities:
• Formulate an employee relations strategy and plan, aligned to the Group Employee Relations strategy that drives business performance and improved union, management and employee relations
• Plan and conduct annual salary negotiations with the recognised trade union and ensure that all provisions of the salary agreement are properly implemented
• Align all Human Resources policies and procedures to comply with statutory requirements in liaison with Head, Human Resources
• Assist in the training and continuous upskilling of Human Resources teams and line management with regards to Labour Act, 2003 (Act 651) and employee relations practices
• Minimise the exposure of the Bank to labour litigation through effective and proactive management of discipline and conflict management and union relationships
• Review and ensure best practice approach to managing employee relations processes such as discipline, grievance, incapacity and operational requirement dismissals
• Monitor disciplinary and grievance enquiries and ensure that they are dealt with in an effective and efficient manner and compile monthly reports for management
• Manage industrial relations issues internally and externally including representing the Bank at Labour Office, Court, when required
Qualification Required & Experience
• Minimum of first degree in Social Sciences. A professional qualification in Law will be an added advantage
• Minimum of 5 years experience in the Industrial Relations field
• Prior experience in conciliation and arbitration will be an added advantage
• A sound knowledge of Labour Act, 2003 (Act 651) and demonstrated ability to interpret the Act for a range of complex business scenarios
• Knowledge of dispute resolution mechanisms, and relevant case law as it pertains to employee relations
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) able to communicate openly with all levels of staff in the bank
• Conceptual understanding of business strategy and how its successful application can lead to a healthy industrial relations environment
