Job Vacancy For Junior Technical Advisor
Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) - is a public-benefit federal enterprise working in more than 100 countries worldwide. Scope of Role:
• The position holder will support the Head of the Ghanaian-European Centre for Jobs, Migration and Development (GEC), the Component Manager for the PME and the management team of GEC regarding the strategic development, management, and operational execution of the programme. S/he does so through the provision of concepts, background information, briefings, and developing communication instruments for the management team of GEC.
• S/he thus supports the Head of Centre (HoC) and the management team in the execution of their steering and management tasks. S/he additionally supports the team during fieldwork with regard to the communication with various actors
Tasks
Project management assistance
• Support, assistance and advice to the HoC and management team in all programme-related matters
• Assist in annual operational plan preparation and monitoring
• Draft papers, statements, presentations, and briefing documents in the area of Regular Migration, Employment Promotion, Partners Capacity
Building and Reintegration.
• Drafting the GEC quarterly and annual reports
• Support in the organisation of external and internal events, conferences, annual meetings, planning workshops etc.
• Support Advisory Team of GEC in the execution of their daily counselling activities
• Technical support to Team Migration Projects (PFS, EU-Germany-Ghana Joint Action, Labour Capacity Building, WIDU and MEG).
• Support to the communications desk with external communication to GEC clients, traditional and social media engagements and event
coordination.
• Responsible for rolling GIZ sustainability practices at the project level including regular staff trainings and technical support to the GIZ Ghana sustainability working group.
Assistance in strategic project development
• Support in the strategic development and operational management of GEC
• Support in broadening the cooperation network of the programme in line with strategic priorities
Partner relations management
• Support the liasoning and effective collaboration with the political, international, and national partner organizations of GEC
• Support the effective cooperation with other relevant units of GIZ Ghana
Internal project management
• Supporting in internal communication, rules and regulations, team building and reporting on the progress of the programme
• Team organisation and team information (newsletters, progress reports, reviews)
• Keeping the team informed about upcoming deadlines and deliverables, thereby ensuring smooth completion of work responsibilities
• Supporting in organisation of weekly team meetings
• Supporting the recruitment and onboarding of new team members
• Knowledge management of project resources on all GIZ platforms (Ms Teams, DMS, One Drive, etc)
• Organizing onboarding sessions for new staff
• Support to administrative unit on facility and project asset management
• Taking on any additional task related to the overall purpose of the position, if assigned by the team leader
Qualification Required & Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in social sciences or any other project related field and a minimum of one year of work experience in one of the fields:
international development, project management, social work, public policies and other project related fields
• Expertise of the topic of migration in Ghana, especially on the nexus of Migration and Development, Reintegration and Employment
• Experience in working/engaging with international organizations and/or donors
• Excellent written and oral English and Ghanaian language skills. German language proficiency would be an asset
• Excellent team-working and communication skills as well as excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
• Excellent writing and editing skills and strong knowledge of MS Office with a focus on MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• A strong capacity for effective teamwork, high degree of flexibility, ability to work under pressure of deadlines and attention to detail
• Willingness to travel in- and outside the country
