The
British High Commission (BHC) Accra has a vacancy for an LE2 Regional Trade Coordinator in the UK Trade & Investment section.
UKTI Ghana is a small but busy team which offers a diverse, lively and challenging range of experience and opportunities to the successful applicant. The main elements of the job include
• Acting as lead UKTI contact for the UK West African Regional Commercial Network on trade promotion and trade opportunities in agreed sectors. The regional network includes Cote d’Ivoire, Cameroon, Gabon, Guinea, Senegal and Sierra Leone
• Acting as a link between the regional network and UK business, including advising on market strategy to UK business new to the region and those already active in Ghana
• Coordinating a range of trade support services through UKTI’s chargeable services with the regional network
• Supporting the regional network to help manage activities such as key visits across several markets, and promote business opportunities including uploading and updating information on UKTI website
• Lead on coordinating/ monitoring and evaluation of a client contact database
Qualification Required & Experience
The skills/attributes of the successful applicant will include:
• prioritising in a fast-paced work environment, working largely unsupervised, delivering to deadlines and agreed targets;
• excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills in both English and French. It is essential for the candidate to communicate in French as regional network includes mainly French speaking countries;
• a good team player with good organisational skills;
• ability to think strategically and creatively - to identify the potential for joining up different strands of activity between the UKTI global network, BHC teams and between the BHC, DFID, British Council and Partners Across Government (PAGS); and to embrace change and opportunities to do things better/differently
• computer literate with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint, and able to manage information effectively with available computer systems, databases and website;
• a good sense of marketing in order to present a positive and professional image to UK & Ghanaian stakeholders/customers, both in terms of communication and presentation of services
The successful applicant is likely to have one or more of the following:
• educated to degree level (or equivalent work experience) preferably in a business/marketing related field;
• comprehensive knowledge of the Ghanaian private and public sectors and economy in general;
• an understanding of international trade issues;
• public speaking skills;
The successful applicant will need to:
• observe the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s diversity and equality policies;
• show some flexibility over working hours;

The monthly salary range for LE 2 positions in the BHC is
GHc1,885 (rising in increments of
GHc 73 based on performance) to a maximum of
GHc2,907. The starting salary will be determined by the successful applicant’s experience and skills, but will be in the range
GHc1,885 to
GHc 2031.
The appointment is available on a 2 year contract, and subject to the satisfactory completion of a probationary period.
The successful applicant will demonstrate that they meet the requirements under
Ghanaian law to work in Ghana, and to pass (or have passed) BHC internal security
clearance.
