Job Vacancy For Mine Maintenance Training Supervisor At Golden Star Resources (Bogoso/Prestea)
Golden Star Resources is a growing Company with two operating mines in Ghana and other projects at various stages of development. The Company's Bogoso/Prestea operations, located 10km south of the town of Bogoso in the Western Region of Ghana, is in the process of expanding with the commissioning of a new BIOX Plant in 2007. To supplement its open pit production, the Company is evaluating the feasibility of resuming Underground operations.
Description Of Job
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for initiating, implementing, and managing maintenance programmes based on best practices with emphasis on Safety, planning/scheduling and preventive/breakdown maintenance of all equipment in the field;
• Ensure that Maintenance Technicians are adequately trained, equipped and motivated to accomplish set objectives;
• Develop training needs database for maintenance technicians;
• Train or co-ordinate training in equipment maintenance, safety methods, procedures and techniques;
• Ensure maintenance activities are accomplished in a safe, timely and cost effective manner;
• Maintain a safe and health working environment to minimise work-place injuries;
• Attend and participate in meetings, maintain awareness of new trends and development in equipment maintenance, and incorporate new developments as appropriate into training programs;
• Make recommendations for changes and improvement to existing standards, policies on procedures and provide training to employees on the approved changes and improvements;
• Assist in conducting employee performance reviews based on job descriptions to determine competency, knowledge and contribution of Maintenance Supervisors and Technicians; and
• Perform any other related duties assigned from time to time by supervisor
Qualification Required & Experience
• Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering with at least ten (10) years heavy equipment maintenance experience, five (5) of which must be in a supervisory capacity;
• Ability to carry out training needs analysis, prepare training budgets and delivery training programmes;
• Ability to design training systems to fill identified training and development gaps;
• Excellent training facilitation skills
• Excellent environmental, hazard identification and risk management skills;
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills;
• Good understanding of Maintenance Standards and procedures;
• Ability to maintain heavy duty mining equipment;
• Ability to relate effectively to people at all levels;
• Must be computer literate in Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point and relevant maintenance software;
• Must possess a valid and current Ghanaian driving Licence
