Job Vacancy For Monitoring, Evaluation And Research Officer At VSO International (Tamale)

In Ghana we are working with government and civil society with the help of a donor funding to address the barriers that prevent children, particularly girls and those with disability from going to, remaining and performing in school.
We are committed to improving the way we demonstrate the impact of our work to all our stakeholders and for our own learning through a coherent, systematic and vigorous monitoring and evaluation frame work and research. We are therefore seeking a professional who would lead in co-ordinating all the monitoring, evaluation and research activities within the project working closely with the Project Manager, Project implementing partners, researchers and other stakeholders.
Main Duties Of The Job
Technical Support
• Review and collate feedback on all technical documents that research and M&E resource persons would produce. For example, Expression of Interest (EOIs), concept notes, detailed proposals, tools, M&E matrix and reports.
Documentation and Reporting
• Provide lead support to the project M&E committee in analysis and documentation of data gathered
• Support the Project Manager in reviewing and giving feedback on partner quarterly reports specifically in areas relevant to M&E and research
• Produce regular updates and reports on ongoing M&E and research work and ensure that it is adequately fed into the overall project reports
• Lead on the production of relevant human interest stories, longitudinal studies and programme brochures
• Have oversight responsibility for updating the project M&E database
Support To Planning, Reviews and Learning:
• Organise and co-ordinate research related meetings/events in a timely manner
• Promote integration of the research and M&E into planned activities
• Facilitate capturing of learning based on data and experiences and feedback into the programme
• Participate in Annual TENI review and reporting exercise
Suport To Partners
• Establish and build relationship with partner organisations to implement project M&E and research activities
Qualification Required & Experience
• At least a first degree in education, social sciences, statistics economic, mathematics or related field
• A professional training in M&E and database management would be a strong advantage
Experience
• At least 5 years experience in related field with at least 2 years in an M&E capacity and in the non-profit sector
• Knowledge about the education sector in Ghana
• Hands-on experience in managing data or working with research personnel with a niche for applying statistical packages
• Experience in reviewing projects and feeding back learning into future plans
Other Qualities
• Ability to organise and co-ordinate field research work and translate it into concise analytical reports.
• Self motivated with lots of initiative
• Able to work long hours and travel extensively in the three northern regions
• Team player and should be able to relate with other at all levels
