Job Vacancy For News Editor At KESMI FM (Tamale)
Description Of Job
The successful candidate would help manage the day to day coverage of news. Maintain ethical, editorial, artistic, and technical standards for radio news programs.
Key duties will include:
• Formulating editorial policy; planning, coordinating and directing editorial activities.
• Overseeing lead stories for each issues and writing stories.
• Develops news story ideas, track issues and events, select reporters for coverage, schedule stories for air, and schedule time for interviewing, writing and editing.
• Primary fact checker and script editor to insure news reports are produced in an effective, timely and responsible manner.
• Assist in identifying, developing and creating programs for broadcast.

Qualification Required & Experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Successful candidate will possess broad knowledge of local, regional, national and international political, legislative, economic, scientific, arts and cultural affairs.
• Must possess effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong sense of what makes a good news story and sound editorial judgement.
• Ability to generate original ideas and to think creatively about how to communicate them.
• In-depth knowledge of the Radio market, different station and programme styles and audience demographics.
• Ability to encourage frank and constructive reviews of news or programme output
• A thorough knowledge of the law, ethics and industry regulation, and broad experience of their application in radio and the practice of journalism
Educational Qualification/Experience:
• A good degree in communication or Journalism/ Broadcasting or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working in media, marketing and/or public relations.
• Superior verbal and written communication skills; copywriting experience is a plus.
