Job Purpose
The purpose of this job is to provide professional, technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for the nutrition programmes/projects within the Country Programme from development planning to delivery of results, preparing, executing, managing and implementing a variety of technical and administrative programme tasks to facilitate programme development, implementation and programme progress monitoring, evaluating and reporting of results.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Support programme development and planning, conduct situation analysis for the programme and provide technical and operational support throughout all stages of programming processes by executing/administering a variety of technical programme transactions, preparing materials/documentations and complying with organisational processes and management systems
• Programme management, monitoring and delivery of results, work closely and collaboratively with internal and external colleagues and partners to discuss operational and implementation issues. Monitor and report on the use of sectoral programme resources (financial, administrative and other assets)
• Technical and operational support to programme implementation and to government counterparts, NGO partners, UN system partners and other country office partners/donors on the application and understanding of UNICEF policies, strategies, processes and best practices on nutrition and related issues to support programme implementation, operations and delivery of results
• Networking & partnership building with nutrition sector government counterparts and national stakeholders
• Draft communication and information materials for CO program advocacy in promote awareness, establish partership/alliances and support fund-raising for nutrition programmes
• Innovation, knowledge management and capacity building, promote good practice to support the implementation and delivery of concrete and sustainable programme results.
Qualification Required & Experience
Education:
• A University Degree or higher in nutrition, public health, nutritional epidemiology, global/international health and nutrition, health/nutrition research, policy and/or management, or other health related science field is required.
Work Experience:
• A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in nutrition, public health, related research or planning and management in relevant areas of maternal, infant and child nutrition, at the international level some of which preferably in a developing country is required. Relevant experience in health/nutrition program/project development and management in any UN system agency or organization is an asset.
Language Requirements:
• Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is an asset
