Duties and Responsibilities:

•  Adheres to approved company policies, standard practices of the profession as prescribed by the Pharmacy Council.
•  Ensures that there is sufficient staff to provide excellent/efficient pharmacy services and makes specific assignments as appropriate.
•  Controlled substances dispensed will be reviewed on a weekly basis and discrepancies resolved as soon as possible.
•  Ensures that records are kept for each prescription filled for pharmacy files, and National Health Insurance Scheme prescription assigned or delegated to subordinates
•  Compound and dispense medications following prescriptions issued by medical doctors, assistants, dentists, or other authorized medical practitioners
•  Ensures proper storage of all medications including refrigerated items
•  Supervises inventory control of pharmacy stock to an acceptable turnover in order to minimize the amount of expired drugs including daily requirements from the wholesale department
•  Provides drug information, including adverse drug reactions and contraindications to patients (clients)
•  Supervises monthly physical inventory process.
•  Schedules adequate staff and coordinates the activities of physical inventory for the pharmacy department monthly.
•  Participates in Quality Assurance activities within the department as well as throughout the company.
•  Must be proactive in addressing issues or services requiring intradepartmental coordination. Actively promotes the use of the Quality in Practice process and tools in order to establish and atmosphere of continual improvement.
•  Refer patients to the clinic or other health professionals and agencies when appropriate.
•  Prepares and manages pharmacy impress given by finance department and account fir it on a monthly basis.
•  Manages equipment, personnel and operational budgets and ensures that the operation of department is within budget guidelines and providing explanation of significant variances.
•  Actively seeks ways to improve existing services and new services as they agree with the mission of EMBA Group.
•  Ensures that all clients or customers are given verbal (counseling) on all new prescriptions and clients (patients) are provided counseling or medical information according to professional judgment
•  Pharmacist will advise clients (patients) and answer questions about prescription drugs
•  Answer questions about possible side effects and interactions among different drugs; provide information and make recommendations about over-the-counter drugs;
•  Pharmacists will supervise personnel.

Qualification Required & Experience

Education:

•  Must be a Bachelor of Pharmacy holder from a recognized University
•  Current registration as a pharmacist with the Ghana Pharmacy Council
•  Must have a free license to register a pharmacy with the pharmacy council

Experience:

•  Experience in community pharmacy, possesses administrative and management skills.
•  Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification: Current registration as a pharmacist in Ghana
